Sonny Mayugba is Chief Marketing Officer of Waitr, the highly successful mobile on-demand restaurant ordering and delivery platform. Sonny joined Waitr through the acquisition of the company he founded, Requested, a venture-funded software platform that enabled diners to name their own price at restaurants. Mayugba’s entrepreneurial focus was recognized by Inc. Magazine when it named Requested one of the top 8 startups to watch for in 2015. Stewarding the Waitr brand, user acquisition, activation and retention and company revenue growth, Mayugba has helped Waitr grow from 10 to 230 cities across the Southeastern United States.
Early on, Sonny joined the rise of desktop and internet publishing when he was promoting one of his first companies, Heckler Magazine, on newsstands and UseNet. By age 25, he led the company to be acquired by TransWorld Media/Times-Mirror. Recently, Mayugba worked in Global Business Marketing at Facebook leading the global success story practice. Mayugba has a passion for local food, which he embraces as the Founder/Owner of the popular Red Rabbit Kitchen and Bar. An occasional keynote speaker at business and technology conferences, Sonny was rated #1 out of 58 speakers at San Francisco’s 2015 Launch Scale Conference. Throughout his career, Sonny has built impactful business strategies for global commodities, NASDAQ-traded retailers and top-tier lifestyle brands.
